The Ultimate Domestic Godess~50s ideals

In todays society we can no longer relate to the ideals of the typical Domestic Goddess’s of the 50s. These days the 50s housewife stereotype seems to have more of an entertaining, fun, flirty and feminine image. Emaculately groomed ladies with tiny waists, pointy breasts, wearing little aprons and baking cupcakes. It's every man's fantasy!

Take a look at this article from “Housekeeping Monthly 13 May 1955”. Phew!!...Thank goodness times have changed.

Bust Booster

In the 50s, large, lifted, pointy breasts were all the rage. Rumor has it Marilyn Monroe slept in her bra to keep her breasts from sagging. Exercises to increase bust size were also popular in teenage magazines. "We must, we must, we must increase our bust" was the mantra for a generation of girls.

Busty Chant

We must,
We must,
We must increase our bust!
The bigger the better,
The tighter the sweater,
The boys like it better,
And so we must!

*For best results do the bust clench and busty chant at the same time.

The Bust Clench

a) Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.
b) Squeeze your palms together, pushing from the elbow and putting the force on the base of your hands.
c) Keep your fingertips relaxed and squeeze for 45 seconds.
d) Rest for 30 seconds and repeat

* Miss Pip does not guarantee results, but hey…
it can’t hurt trying.

My signature tips and tricks will keep you glamorous and knowledgeable!

Miss Pip’s Tip #5 Winter beauty tips with honey.
Cleopatra was famous for her milk and honey baths, and Poppea, wife of Roman Emperor Nero, used a honey and milk lotion on her face to keep her looking youthful.

Try these delectable beauty recipes at home to keep your skin looking soft and feeling moisturized all winter.

Skin Softening Bath
Add ¼ cup honey to bath water for a fragrant, silky bath.

Moisture Mask
Mix 2 tablespoons honey with 2 teaspoons milk. Smooth over
face and throat. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

Miss Pip’s Tip~#6 How to remove crayon off walls
Have your little darlings been getting creative again with their crayons on your walls? Spray with
WD-40®, then gently wipe, using a paper towel or clean cloth. If the mark is stubborn, sprinkle a
little baking soda on a damp sponge and gently rub in a circular motion. If the WD-40® leaves a
residue, gently wipe off with a sponge soaked in soapy water; rinse clean; blot dry. Another
method is to use a hair dryer... it heats the wax and wipes away instantly. If the color remains,
like red usually does, wet a cloth with bleach and wipe. Vwah-la!

Miss Pip’s Tip #7~ How to get rid of bathroom odors
Place a small vase or cute container (you may like to try a 50s style tea tin or small cookie jar) fill
with baking soda and leave behind the toilet to absorb any un-lady-like bathroom odors.

Roast Pumpkin, Garlic and Chilli Soup garnished with roasted pumpkin seeds.

Yes it is officially winter. Brrrrrr.
I love roast Pumpkin Soup, I am always craving it as soon as winter approaches. This recipe I found is delicious accompanied with toasted wood fired bread. If like me, you like it to be a bit sweeter you can add a couple of teaspoons of honey to the pot, I have been told I’m a bit of Sweet Heart. He he. You have to try this one. It’s a winter warmer winner.

1 medium jap pumpkin
One bulb garlic
1 red chilli, chopped
2 Onions, chopped
2 sticks celery, chopped
1.7 litres water
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

Cut the pumpkin in half and scoop out the stringy flesh and seeds. Wash the seeds under a cold
running tap to separate them from the flesh and put to one side.

Chop the pumpkin into largish pieces (about 2 inch cube). There's no need to peel it. Put the
pieces into a bowl. Break up the bulb of garlic into cloves. Put three cloves of garlic to one side,
and put the others (in their skins) into the bowl with the pumpkin. Drizzle over some olive oil and
mix it all up so that everything is evenly coated. Put the pumpkin & garlic into a roasting tin and
cook in the oven (180C) for about 45 minutes or so. When done, the pumpkin should be soft and
starting to turn brown on the edges. Take out of the oven and leave to cool slightly.

Take the three reserved garlic cloves, peel them and chop them finely. Cook the onions, celery,
chopped garlic and chilli gently in some olive oil in a large saucepan for ten minutes or so until soft.

Take the roasted pumpkin, and scrape the flesh off the skins with a spoon and put in the pan
with the onion mixture. Take the roasted garlic cloves and squeeze the garlic out of the skins
into the pan with the onions and pumpkin.

Add the water to the pan (you may need more or less, depending on how big your pumpkin
was). Bring to a gentle simmer, cover and leave bubbling gently away for half an hour or so.
Whizz through a blender to turn it into a thick puree and add salt and pepper to taste.
Take the pumpkin seeds and toss them in some olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt. Spread them
on a baking tray and cook in the oven (180C) for fifteen minutes or so. Garnish the soup with
them, or just snack on them with a gin and tonic...
